Method Acting for Adults
What is this mysterious craft called ‘Method Acting’? Is it really the magic behind all great actors? But what is the secret?
Run in partnership with Staged in Kuwait, Kuwait’s leading drama providers, and taught by ARGAN Bedaya’s Head of Performing Arts and one of the GCC’s leading acting teachers, Alex Broun, this class explores the four great “acting methods”: Constantin Stanislavski, Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler.
Over the first four weeks of the course, one session will be dedicated to exploring each of these four methods. Participants will learn about all four techniques, which are used by many of the world’s leading actors, and most importantly, they will discover which “method” works best for them.
In the second three weeks of the course, actors will have a chance to use these techniques and apply them to stage and screen scenes which they will rehearse with a scene partner.
The course concludes with an Actor’s Showcase where actors will present the scenes they have worked on to an invited audience of family and friends. The scenes are also filmed so participants will have a lasting record of what they have learned during the course.

Young Film Makers (16-25 years)
Join us for our 7-week film workshop to expand your creative horizons and embark on an exciting filmmaking journey.
Held in partnership with Staged in Kuwait, Kuwait’s No.1 Drama School, and run by experienced actor, director and writer, Alex Broun, the Film Club will begin with teaching participants how to craft narratives through creative storytelling that engages with your audience.
Through the seven-week workshop participants will be led through all the phases of film making starting with Story Development, Screen Writing, Pre-Production, Casting and Shooting Prep, right through to Filming, Editing and Music & Effects.
Along the way they will be given hands-on training in shooting preparation along with pre-production techniques and all aspects of working on a film set from camera operation to cinematography to set dressing. Aspiring to be a filmmaker? Then you don’t want to miss this!
The course will end with a premiere of the film made in the course to an invited audience of family and friends.

Acting for Performance
Do you feel like your acting talent has reached the point where you are ready to perform on stage? Then join Argan Bedaya’s Acting for Performance course under the guidance of Argan Bedaya’s Head of Performing Arts, and one of the GCC’s leading stage directors, Alex Broun. At the start of the course Alex will select a play carefully chosen for the actors in the course, which they will then rehearse under Alex’s direction and perform at Argan Bedaya in June. Along the way they will fine tune their stage acting skills focusing on voice, physicality, characterization, script analysis, connecting with other actors and performing in front of an audience. (PLEASE NOTE: Actors registering for this course must have prior experience acting on stage or completed a previous acting course at Argan Bedaya or Staged in Kuwait.)

Alex Broun is one of the GCC’s leading theatre directors. After beginning his career in Sydney, Australia at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), he directed extensively throughout Australia where highlights included Oneness: Voice Without Form (Sydney Opera House), Storm at Vaucluse House (Historic Houses Sydney), Othello (Phillip Street Theatre), Desire (Crossroads Theatre), Re-Fugitive (Old Fitzroy and National Tour), Pick Ups (National Tour), It Stands Alone (Sydney Opera House and National Tour), Proof (Sydney Theatre Company), A Man with Five Children (Sydney Theatre Company). Alex re-located to the GCC in 2012 where highlights have included Madama Butterfly (Theatre at the Mall of the Emirates and Emirates Palace), Howzat (The Junction), Saudi Singalong (Itrha, Saudi Arabia), Blind City (The Junction), Red (The JamJar) and numerous productions for the Emirates Literature Foundation.
