As we head into Season 14, a new start is on the horizon for Staged in Kuwait’s Community Theatre.
After leading the group since its founding in 2012, Artistic Director Tim Waddell will be stepping down from overseeing Community Theatre activities. Full responsibility will now be handed to the Membership, ensuring that the legacy of English-language community theatre in Kuwait — dating back to 1948 — continues to thrive for many years to come.
This transition is about sharing the workload, embracing new ideas, and building a structure that can be passed on from generation to generation of theatre enthusiasts, under the auspices and support of the Staged in Kuwait name and licenses.
Annual General Meeting – Call to Theatre Enthusiasts
The first Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Staged in Kuwait Community Theatre will be held on:

At this meeting, all interested parties are invited to attend and vote in the election of the first Community Theatre Committee (CTC), who will represent the society during the 2025–2026 season.
There will be seven elected committee positions:
- Chair – Leads the committee, represents CT in venue/business discussions, supports Producers, and acts as spokesperson.
- Treasurer – Oversees finances, monitors the CT ledger, approves budgets, and presents financial reports.
- Secretary – Organises meetings, records minutes, manages correspondence, and maintains archives.
- Publicity Representative – Designs publicity material and social media content, Coordinates show marketing, ensures brand consistency, and raises CT’s profile.
- Assets Manager – Maintains costumes, props, sets, and technical inventory; advises on sourcing and reuse.
- Social Secretary – Plans socials, fosters community spirit, and welcomes new members.
- Membership Secretary – Manages membership database, recruitment, renewals, and volunteer support.
Anyone is free to stand for nomination at the AGM. Going forward, nominations and voting will be open to enrolled Members each season.
Community-Led Productions
At present there are no shows on the Season 14 calendar — selecting and approving productions will be the first task of the new Committee.
The aim is not for the Committee to direct every show, but to invite proposals from Members. A Production Proposal Guide will be published to help members pitch ideas for plays, musicals, or events they would like to stage under the SIK CT banner.
The goal is to build seasons of diverse productions, each led and managed by different members of our creative community.
A Shared Legacy
Running a season of Community Theatre is no small undertaking — it takes a village, if not a town! But we know the enthusiasm and passion are alive in our community.
This change marks the beginning of a new chapter for Staged in Kuwait. Together, we will continue to create opportunities for performance, connection, and creativity, and carry forward the long tradition of English-language theatre in Kuwait.
