Why Sketch Writing?
Sketch comedy is one of the sharpest, fastest ways to express ideas, connect with an audience, and make people laugh. Whether you love Saturday Night Live, Key & Peele, or British sketch classics, learning to write and perform sketch comedy helps sharpen your wit, boost your confidence, and develop your voice as a comedy writer and performer.
What You’ll Learn
In our Sketch Writing class, you’ll learn how to turn everyday ideas—like a strange object, an awkward relationship, or an ordinary location—into hilarious, original sketches. Using improvisation as a starting point, we’ll explore how to build strong comedic premises, write punchy dialogue, and shape your ideas into tight, performance-ready scripts.
Each month, students will create and refine two brand-new comedy sketches for performance at SIK Open Mic Night or Improv Comedy Nights, giving you the chance to test your material in front of a live audience.
